Marijuana plants cultivated indoors are not commonly grown from seed any longer. Individual marijuana sprouts are grown from cuttings in a specialized container called a ‘cloner’ or a ‘cloning machine.’ Cuttings (clones) are taken from a single strong plant (the mother plant) and treated with a rooting compound, then placed in foam discs and inserted into the cloning machine. The machine constantly sprays a fine mist of water on the cut ends; the roots grow quickly, and when approx. 12″ tall the clones are ready to transplant into hydroponic growing medium or soil.
